For a better Abeokuta South Federal Constituency

“For a better Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.”

- Hon. Micky Kazzim.

Coming to Abeokuta South Federal Constituency from Abeokuta North is guaranteed a better and effective representation at the National Assembly, with impacts already been felt in the areas of Community Infrastructural Development, Poverty Alleviation and Youth Development.

A strategic and purpose driven developmental program tagged “Ko Ton Sibe” (It’s not over) was conceived and lunched in the year 2019. Immediately after the expiration of our tenure in the 8th assembly with an intention to continually keep in touch with the constituents, such that no developmental and/or communication gap would be created between Hon. Micky Kazzim on hand and my people on the other.

As a proof of our interest to better and make an effective push for a facelift in the plight of our constituents (indigenes and non-indigenes) in Abeokuta South, through the “Ko Ton Sibe” program, Hon. Micky Kazzim has facilitated the approval, construction and commissioning of notable life changing project distributed across different locations within Abeokuta South Federal constituency.
Hon. Micky  Kazzim (APM Candidate)

In the area of Youth Development, six (6) different primary schools classroom buildings were constructed, renovated, commissioned and already in use within Abeokuta South Federal constituency. Premised on the belief that, children taught in a conducive, clean and fully equipped learning environment will definitely become good future and reliable leaders, we had always dreamt of.

First, Hon. Micky Kazzim facilitated the construction of eleven (11) classrooms in Our Lady of the Lords Primary School, Onikoko, Abeokuta. After that, “Ko Ton Sibe” moved to Methodist Primary School, Imo, Oke-yeke, Abeokuta where six (6) brand new classrooms were constructed plus fully innovation of ten (10) existing but old classrooms to make learning easy and conducive for our children.

Also, Micky Kazzim lobbied and got the approval for the construction of another eleven (11) classrooms newly built in St Augustine Primary School, Adatan, Abeokuta.  Already constructed, commissioned and has been in use by the pupils. While, in St James Primary School Idi-Aba, Hon. Micky facilitated the construction of twelve (12) newly built classrooms, already in use as well.

It’s not over, yet Hon. Kazzim pitched and got the approval to build twelve (12) new classrooms each for another two (2) different schools, located within Abeokuta South Federal constituency. One, C.A.C Primary Lantoro, Abeokuta was identified for such need, and has since been a beneficiary. Secondly, A.N.L.G Primary School, at Ilugun Asalu, a boundary town between Abeokuta South and Abeokuta North local government areas is a proud beneficial of twelve (12) newly built class rooms already in use as well.

Recently, for Community Infrastructural Development, Hon. Micky Kazzim held a meeting with the Abeokuta South Zonal Community Development Committee (CDC) to be abreast with the current communities’ needs, in a view to knowing how to best represent them effectively as collaborators of government development efforts. This is to ensure a better Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

In furtherance of Hon. Micky Kazzim’s Community Infrastructural Development programs, Micky shocked Abeokuta South Zonal CDC by donating and handing-over two (2) units 500 KVA/11 KVA transformers. And have since taken to Oke-Aregba and Abiola Way communities where there was an existing pressing need for them. This Hon. Mikky monitored personally, till it get to where the CDC identified for immediate use.

More so, Hon. Micky Kazzim   “Ko Ton Sibe” community infrastructural development stride, identified the constant scarcity of portable water in Abeokuta. As observed, this is understandable and synonymous to Abeokuta being a rocky city. “Abeokuta” as the name implies is “under the rock”. Hence, waster generation becomes a major need for the people’s livelihood and survival.

To salvage the situation as experienced in the city, Hon. Micky Kazzim has facilitated, constructed and hand-over for usage three (3) industrialized boreholes situated in different locations within Abeokuta South Federal Constituency. First, at Iyana-Motuary area, just behind Sawmill by INEC office.

The second was sunk at Kuto, opposite the Kuto motor parks. While, Hon. Micky Kazzim sought and got the approval to sink the third industrial borehole at Ake area, precisely Ita-Faji. All these industrialized water projects have since been in use by people, which serve as a succor to the constituents’ suffering for portable and drinkable water.

In the area of Youth Empowerment and  Poverty Alleviation, Hon. Micky Kazzim has distributed twenty-five (25) POS Kiosks to  empower youths who are involve in the business, but has always been sitting under umbrellas. This is to prevent direct impact of the sunlight and provide a lockable facility useful not for POS withdrawal or payment businesses, but, also a shop for other petty trading activities.

Conclusively, all these highlighted projects are not facilitated to compete and/or rubbish with the existing or ongoing governor’s projects but to serve a complementary nation building and developmental projects to further proof that the time is now for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency to enjoy the dividends of democracy in terms of Effective Representation, Community Infrastructural Development, Poverty Alleviation and Youth Development.

He therefore, call on all voters (indigenes and non-indigenes) in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency to elect him as a candidate to represent you at the National House Assembly, on the platform of Allied Peoples Movement (APM). He had track records, as tested political actors with verifiable success stories. Above listed projects were facilitated and executed as proof of his aspirations to you (constituents in Abeokuta South) that he can do more if elected in the coming 2023 general election. Please, let’s join hands together to achieve this mandate for a better Abeokuta South Federal Constituency.

NCF and LFZC Sensitize Coastal Communities on Sea Turtle Conservation in Lagos State. Sequel to the sea turtle conservation partnership signed between the Lagos Free Zone company (LFZC) and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF), series of activities began in December 2022. The ultimate vision of these activities is to promote the preservation of endangered sea turtles and reduce the impact of human activities on their population within the operational range and surrounding communities around the LFZC. The community awareness and sensitization exercises on sea turtles that were embarked on aimed to achieve the following: support the ecosystem in mitigating the impact of human activities; educate and create awareness within and beyond the surrounding communities; evaluate the behavior of stakeholders towards sea turtle conservation; and promote environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation. Sea turtles play an important role in maintaining marine and coastal ecosystems. Their ecosystem functions include nutrients recycling, maintaining habitat integrity, maintaining the ecosystem of coastal reefs and coastal dunes. Unfortunately, most species of sea turtles are currently threatened according to the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The decline in the population of these species is largely due to anthropogenic pressures on the species and its habitats. Activities such as commercial fishing, loss of nesting habitat, pollution, harvesting of their eggs, overfishing, direct hunting of sea turtle for meat all contribute to the decline of the species. As their population decline, so does their ability to fulfil vital functions in the marine ecosystems. The awareness program took place at Magbon-Segun hall, Okunraye Baale’s house, and Idotun hall with 115 participants drawn from Magbon-Segun, Okesegun, Ilekuru, Okunraye, Lujagba, Idotun and Itoke communities. Participants were educated on the role sea turtles play in the environment, how human activities have affected their population and the possible conservation actions to mitigate the impact of human activities towards the protection of sea turtles. Some concerns were raised by the attendees, including Availability of Protein Substitutes for sea turtles; Livelihood Intervention; Handling Accidental Bycatches; Accounting for Damaged Fishing Gears; Disagreement on the major causes of Species Decline; Myths and Beliefs; the roles of large trawlers in the species decline; Actions on Captured Species; Compensation for fishers in the case of damaged nets from accidental catch of turtles.
