Oba Matemilola inaugurates Owu Community Library

Olowu of Owu, Oba Prof. Saka Adelola Matemilola will on Tuesday inaugurate the Owu Community Library.

In fulfillment of his promise as he is set to showcase his unwavering commitment to promote literacy throughout the length and breadth of Owu kingdom and by extension Nigeria.

The event according to a release by the Coordinator, Owu Community Library, Mr Biodun Lasile will take place at the Olowu Palace,Oke- Ago Owu at 10am.

The Chairperson of the occasion is the University Librarian, FUNAAB, Prof Fehintola Onifade, Other dignitaries are

Permanent Secretary   Ministry of Education Science and Technology, Mrs Ogunleye, Director Library Services, Mr  Franklin Giwa,  Owu Chiefs, and many eminent personalities.

The event being championed by the Olowu  is another clarion call to revive old libraries and provide new ones that bring books closer to the people, thereby encouraging and increasing human capacity development in our locality and even nationally.

Unarguably, reading is an integral part of educational curriculum and personal development. Therefore,  a well-equipped library is a treasury house of knowledge for all. 

The statement adds that Owu Community Library (OCL) is equipped to serve children and adults which is ultimately going to be digitalised and upgraded to a level of an international standard at the new permanent site.

Kabiyesi in his royal majesty would formally dedicate and declare open Owu Community Library (OCL) right inside Olowu Palace, Oke Ago-Owu, Abeokuta. 

Mr. Lasile further stated that all arrangements  towards the opening ceremony of the newest Community Library in Owu Kingdom Abeokuta, Ogun State have been concluded.

Dignitaries, Librarians, Book Enthusiasts, Authors and Professionals from all walks of life have been invited to grace the occasion.
